Architectural Perfection

A grey bedroom design style can be used to create a distinctive look and unique ambiance. However, most individuals choose more soft or neutral colors for bedrooms, because they create a warmth and comfort that is often desired in a room that is designed for rest and relaxation. I never really thought of grey color as a bedroom design focal point before seeing these images of grey bedrooms styled using only a grey color pallet. At first glance some of the grey bedroom photography images were shocking, because they are so different form the norm. These grey bedroom ideas seem perfect for individuals seeking simplistic design and a clean feel that can be altered to look more sleek and modern or rustic and old fashioned.

The most intriguing design concept from Just The Design’s post was the grey bedroom found on French By Design. The style of this grey bedroom blends white and grey with both sleek and rustic furniture options. The white makes the room seem bright even though it is filled with items of varying shades of grey. The darker grey color pallet used really makes the white walls and accessories stand out more. The brightness of the white almost makes some of the background accessories like the lamp and couch blend into the walls. This almost creates a dramatic effect that is much different than typical bedroom style choices. The over use of the white makes everything grey stand out even more. In contrast with some of the other grey bedroom designs on this blog post, grey is only used at a minimum and can only be found on the bed spread, rug and clothing selections hanging on the white clothing rack.

One of the most interesting pieces displayed in the room is the bedside wooden table shaped like a block of wood. This creates a look that is very different from every other piece of furniture in the room. In some ways this item adds a rustic feel that can be admired, but it also creates a look that is slightly off and doesn’t fit with the ambiance o the grey bedroom. Part of me likes the uniqueness of this bedroom accessory, but the other part of me feels that it takes something away from the room that can’t be described or identified.

The details on the walls from the black window frame to the white pages of blank text add a grey contrast to the white of the room to brake up the brightness and add something different. I also found that the rug created an appealing look, because it incorporated all of the colors of the grey bedroom into one area of the room that stood out from the rest. Overall I saw this room as something different and unexpected that was simplistic in its uniqueness. Style preference depends o the eye of the beholder, but I definitely relate to the style choice of French By design. The Source of the photo was from Just The Design’s post about Grey Bedrooms
